Bei TEC-SIM entstehen Innovationen mit KI aus einer Partnerschaft

Das Start-up-Unternehmen Kaigos entwickelt ein Robotikprojekt für das Schweißen

TEC-SIM, the Italian metalworking company specializing in manufacturing pressure vessels for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, has entered into a partnership with the start-up Kaigos, a company designing intelligent robotic solutions for SMEs. For TEC-SIM, Kaigos is developing a pilot project for robotics applied to stainless-steel welding. Using artificial intelligence, the project aims to develop a software integrated with the company’s ERP management system for the automation of some welding processes.

Founded in 2023, Kaigos takes an AI-native approach to robotics welding, meaning it doesn’t adapt generic software but builds computer systems using generative artificial intelligence as a core element. Marco Zorzi and Giacomo Dario, two friends with a degrees in engineering and international experience in mechatronics and mobile and anthropomorphic robotics, are the founders. Despite their limited professional experience, they are already official suppliers to the world’s first self-driving car racing championship, the A2RL, held in Abu Dhabi.

The partnership agreement between the two companies provides for Kaigos to remain permanently at TEC-SIM’s production facilities. „Beyond the project itself, which represents our most significant investment for the next two years, we like two aspects of this collaboration,“ comments TEC-SIM CEO Gabriele Da Re. „Having Kaigos engineers physically at our production facility makes project development much easier. Furthermore, we are focusing on fusion,“ continues Da Re, „that is, the virtuous transfer of input, ideas, and enthusiasm from brilliant young minds to a company with over forty years of history, and on the other hand, the transfer of experience, skills acquired in the field, and practicality to youthful enthusiasm. Fusion occurs by experiencing the company, in front of the coffee machine, at our bistro during lunch, and of course while conducting research and development.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate and grow every day alongside a historic company that represents true excellence in the metalworking sector,“ says Giacomo Dario of Kaigos. „Companies like ours thrive primarily thanks to the trust of entrepreneurs like Gabriele Da Re and Gabriele Lavina of TEC-SIM, who believe in innovation and embrace it with vision and optimism.

Italian labor market data confirms a severe shortage of certified welders, with an estimated need of approximately 100,000 workers per year compared to a total of over 542,000. „TEC-SIM, like many other metalworking companies, struggles to find qualified welders. So we’ve turned the problem into an opportunity,“ explains Gabriele Da Re. „Thanks to this project with Kaigos, we won’t replace welders with robots, but rather provide them with tangible assistance in the most repetitive and basic daily processes.

Marco Zorzi of Kaigos comments: „We were impressed by the solidity and coherence of the corporate culture, which is shared throughout the TEC-SIM team. In this context, technology is seen as a tool to support people, with an approach that contributes every day to building a welcoming, dynamic, and forward-looking environment.

The partnership, which envisions a virtuous synergy between people and machines, is part of TEC-SIM’s growth strategy: increasing the company’s competitiveness on the global market while maintaining and expanding production in Italy. The robot ensures consistent quality and output, while people can make the difference in terms of talent and versatility. „I believe this partnership will bring great benefits to everyone, not just in the welding sector,“ concludes Gabriele Da Re.
